TransAction South Dakota offers a number of programs to the community. If you would like more information about any of these, please contact us.
Transgender Support Group
We host a monthly, peer-facilitated, transgender support group in Sioux Falls, and train peer facilitators to start transgender support groups in locations across the state. The Sioux Falls Support Group is held the last Saturday of every month from 6-9 pm, email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Gender Identity Document Assistance Project
We provide assistance in filing the paperwork and paying for the legal fees (based upon availability of funds) for legal name and gender marker changes. In 2017 we supported over 30 transgender South Dakotans through this process.
Outreach, Education, & Awareness
We are active participants in our local communities. We host events, discussions, and film screenings and participate in festivals and celebrations to bring together allied communities to educate and raise awareness.
We work in coalition with allied organizations to promote legislation to support and respect transgender individuals and remove barriers and discrimination. We build relationships with our legislators in Pierre and mobilize our community to contact our local, state, and national representatives. Yearly, we attend legislative days in Pierre to support our communities.
